The New Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) is a women's professional basketball league in North America. It is widely considered to be the premier women's professional basketball league in North America. It has now been expanded to 18 teams (all in the United States). The new WNBA will still play a 34-game schedule. Following the conclusion of the regular season, 4 teams from each conference advance to the playoffs, a best-of series tournament culminating in the WNBA Championship, which will usually start on the second week of September and is played between the champions of the Eastern & Western Conferences.
