The New European League of Football (ELF):
The new European League of Football (ELF) is a of professional American football leagues in Europe which plays an 11-man version of American football with pads. Like other North American sports leagues, this league will not use a “promotion & relegation” system similar to the European soccer leagues. The ELF will also use all of the same rules as the NFL except for the rules listed on this website.
Combining teams from WLAF/NFL Europe & teams from other European leagues, the ELF will play a 14-week schedule with 14 games & no bye weeks. The ELF (played in the summer/fall) will consist of no more than 21 teams. Following the conclusion of the regular season, 6 teams advance to the playoffs, a single-elimination tournament culminating in the ELF Championship (i.e. the EuroBowl).
