The New United States Basketball League (USBL):
The United States Basketball League (USBL) is a professional basketball league in the United States. Like other North American sports leagues, this league won't use a “promotion & relegation” system similar to the European soccer leagues.
The aim of this league is to reform/re-invent the game of basketball in the US in a way that makes it more appealing for American fans. To do so, the league competes using a combination of rules from the following sports:
The new USBL is meant to be an off-season competitor to the NBA & will play a 38 game schedule.
All teams will be located in 8 National Hockey League (NHL) Markets & several other American Hockey League (AHL) & East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) markets that don't already share their areas with an NBA team.
The USBL season starts in late April and ends in early September to mirror that of the WNBA. Following the conclusion of the regular season, 6 teams advance to the playoffs, a best-of series tournament culminating in the USBL Championships. The playoffs will usually start on the second week of September.
