The New Canadian Football League (CFL):
The new Canadian Football League (CFL) is a revamped professional Canadian football league with The new CFL will consist of 10 teams, with no conferences. Like the original CFL, the new CFL will instead opt for a 21-week double round-robin season with 18 games & 3 bye weeks (i.e. each team plays all 9 others twice).
The CFL was officially founded on January 19, 1958 through a merger between the Interprovincial Rugby Football Union & the Western Interprovincial Football Union.
Following the conclusion of the regular season, the top 6 teams advance to the playoffs, a single-elimination tournament culminating in the Grey Cup, which is usually held in mid-November. The new CFL will also use all of the same rules as the old CFL except for the rules explicitly listed on this website.
