The United Football League (UFL):
The New United Football League (UFL) is a professional football league in the United States which plays a 9-man version of American football with or without pads. The leagues is a proposed merger of the 2009 UFL, 2022 Major League Football (MLFB), the 2019 AAF, the 2001 & 2023 XFL iterations, & the 2023 USFL leagues.
The UFL is meant to be more of an outdoor “arena” football league rather than traditional 11-man football, will use a combination of rules from the 1st XFL, the 2nd XFL, the 2nd USFL, the AAF, & the NFL. The UFL will continue the 2023 XFL’s player personnel partnership with the Indoor Football League (IFL), with the IFL functioning as its de-facto minor league.
The league, played in the spring like the other USFL & XFL iterations, will play a 15-week schedule with 14 games & 1 bye week. The league will consist of no more than 30 teams (i.e. 2 conferences of 15 teams each, with divisions of 5 teams each).
Following the conclusion of the regular season, 4 teams from each conference advance to the playoffs, a single-elimination tournament culminating in the UFL Championship.
