The National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league consisting of 32 teams. The NFL's 20-week regular season runs from the final week of August to early January, with each team playing 18 games and having two bye weeks. Following the conclusion of the regular season, 6 teams from each conference (4 division winners and 2 wild cards) advance to the playoffs, a single-elimination tournament culminating in the Super Bowl, played between the champions of the league's two conferences.
